Puma has unveiled its first worldwide campaign in a decade highlighting its connection with speed and elite performances.

The 90-second campaign, ‘Forever. Faster’, features a raft of sports personalities including Jack Grealish, Mondo Duplantis, Karsten Warholm, Neymar Jr. and Breanna Stewart, as Puma positions itself as the “fastest sports brand in the world“.

As a result, the spot will run across TV, social media, out-of-home, in-store and press.

The campaign launches in time for the major sports events taking place this year, including the Euro 2024, Paris 2024 Olympics and Copa América.

Puma CEO, Arne Freundt, said: “Speed is the superpower of how the greats change the game. Just like our world’s icons Mondo Duplantis, Karsten Warholm, Neymar Jr or Breanna Stewart, we know that speed unlocks athletic performance and victory in everyone.

Puma VP of Brand and Marketing, Richard Teyssier, added: “It is the first time that Puma has one single message – Forever. Faster. – throughout the entire year and across all performance categories such as football, running, basketball and handball.

“The holistic brand message is emotional and distinctive to make sure it connects and resonates with our target consumers.”

Puma has linked up with Spotify to promote the relaunch of its Suede shoe via an audio campaign celebrating emerging music artists.

The Suede Music #ForAllTime campaign will see Puma debut a sequential audio ad series, influencer playlists, a disruptive homepage takeover, and sponsorship of Spotify’s ‘Who We Be’ playlist. Alongside that, the pair have created the ‘Suede Music Studio’ – a space for upcoming music talent, championed by rapper Ghetts.

The targeted audio ad series will tell the history of Puma Suede from the 1968 Olympic Games to the rock-steady crew. Meanwhile, the homepage takeover will direct listeners to a ‘Suede Music’ branded profile on Spotify, housing playlists curated by Puma cultural ambassadors as well as material created within the Suede Music Studio.

“Staying true to the ethos of Puma’s cult classic Suede shoe as it relaunches this week, we’re excited to announce Suede Music in partnership with Spotify,” said Ruth How, Head of Marketing Puma UK, Ireland, Benelux. “The platform offers the perfect place to engage with our audience, and we’re really excited to see the campaign play out.”

The campaign has launched today ahead of the release of the Puma Suede Classics from Friday 4 November. The Suede Music Studio will be open for the next six months.

Puma and Spotify have entered into a partnership to celebrate the launch of Puma’s Anthem Pack football boots. The ‘Find Your Flow’ campaign will see exclusive playlists from Puma-sponsored footballers including Antoine Griezmann, Romelu Lukaku, and Luis Suarez, featured on Spotify. Each playlist features bespoke cover artwork and exclusive audio clips about how they’ve found their flow through music, including what inspires them and their pre-game hype tracks.

The two companies have also co-created content within a Spotify Original podcast series. The Who We Be Talks podcast will include a special episode featuring Crystal Palace footballer and Puma ambassador, Mamadou Sakho. During the podcast, host DJ Semtex interviews Sakho about how he finds his flow in the game and life. They discuss his favourite music anthems on and off the pitch, his latest Puma boots, and share insights into his lifestyle and views on culture.

The takeover also sees DJ Semtex and Sakho co-curate a playlist highlighting their favourite tracks that are inspired by overcoming pressures both on and off the field. The 21-track playlist includes tracks from Nigerian artists Teniola Apata and French rapper Ninho. British rapper Stormzy’s track ‘Big For Your Boots’ and Tinie Tempah’s ‘Girls Like’ also feature in the list.

Puma Fit Intelligence FiPuma has unveiled self-lacing trainers designed for workouts and light running, which can be monitored, adjusted, and finetuned via a smartphone.

The German sports company’s take on self-lacing footwear comes two weeks after Nike showed off the second generation of its own self-lacing trainers – the entirely smartphone-controlled Nike Adapt BB basketball shoe. Puma’s version features ‘Fit Intelligence’ (Fi) technology, which uses a micromotor to power a cable system that laces the shoe through swiping up on down on the Fi module.

The workout shoe, which was introduced at a reveal even in Hong Kong, learns the shape of each of the user’s feet and adapts fit. This can also be adjusted using the companion smartphone app or by connecting it to an Apple Watch.

“We have created a product that speaks to the future of sport which is life in motion. It’s fast and changing all the time,” said Charles Johnson, global director of innovation at Puma.
